Jonas Elusme ended his storied Wartburg track and field career with his fourth All-American award in the high jump, tying for seventh in the event Friday in Delaware, Ohio.
Elusme’s top jump was 6 feet, 9 inches. The winner, Christian Patterson of Wilmington, leaped 6 feet, 11 1/2 inches.
As a freshman in 2011, Elusme won the high jump national championship. He was fourth last season.
Colt Feltes earned his first All-American award in the shot put Friday, taking third with a toss of 56 feet, 1/2 inch, which was 2 feet, 6 inches behind champion Sean Donnelly of Mount Union.
Teammate Dylan Boyd finished 18th and did not qualify for the finals with a throw of 51 feet, 2 1/4 inch.
Wartburg’s men are tied for 17th with 7 1/2 points with Feltes’ discus competition remaining at Noon Saturday.
North Central leads Mount Union by a point, 23-22, in the team standings.
