KWAR set to host annual 89.9 hour marathon

KWAR 89.9-FM, Wartburg College’s student-run radio station, has set times and locations for its 2014 89.9 hour marathon themed “Marathon Madness,” to coincide with the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

For 89.9 straight hours, the station will have live DJs in studio giving away a prize donated from community businesses each hour.

The marathon will start Tuesday at 5 p.m. an last until Saturday at 10:54 a.m.

Along with the 89.9 hours DJs will spend in the studio, the staff plans to hold live remote broadcasts in the community.

Here are the following live remote locations and times KWAR is scheduled to be at this week:

Tuesday: Waverly Pizza Ranch from 5-7 p.m.

Wednesday: Waverly Bowl Inn from 9:30-11:30 p.m.

Thursday: The Pour House from 10 p.m.-Midnight.

Friday: The Fainting Goat from 9:30-11:30 p.m.

KWAR is encouraging students and community members to get involved with the radio station and win prizes.

Contestants can win prizes by listening anytime during the marathon’s hours and calling in to the station at 319-352-8306.

Winners can claim prizes by wither coming to the KWAR studio located at the south end of Wartburg’s campus, or by having KWAR send them their prize through the mail.

The marathon will begin at the Waverly Pizza Ranch Tuesday evening at 5 p.m.
