Simpson shut out the Wartburg softball team twice Saturday and the Knights finished winless in the Iowa Conference for the second straight season.
The Knights (4-28, 0-14) had just three hits and committed two errors in each game while the Storm combined for 21 and 12 runs on the day.
Tori Herzberg (2-11) lasted just 1.0 inning in the opener, giving up six runs (five earned) on six hits.
Kate Shindelar finished the game, giving up seven hits and two runs though none were earned in 4.0 innings.
Simpson (29-9, 8-6), ranked No. 5 in the region, ended the game in the 6th on Chelsea Winegard’s RBI single for an 8-0 victory.
Jess Brunko, Stacey Kayser and Samantha Wurtzel had the Knight’s three hits off Kacee Arey (21-8).
Ashley Prettyman was 4-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored for the Storm while Winegard hit 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run.
Jena Heise (1-9) went all 6.0 innings in the nightcap, giving up four runs (three earned) on eight hits.
Simpson scored in the 1st inning once again as Leslie Downing scored on a wild pitch. Downing’s RBI single in the 2nd made it 2-0 Storm.
Simpson tacked on an unearned run in the 4th and pinch runner Emma Negrete scored on a wild pitch in the 6th for the final tally of 4-0.
Brunko, Kayser and Katie Wyman had the three hits off Storm starter Kaytlyn Ernst (8-3) who struck out seven Knights in seven innings.
Downing went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run for the Storm.
Wartburg, which did not qualify for the IIAC Tournament, will wrap up its season with a non-conference doubleheader at Cornell Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
The Knights have lost 19 games in a row and have been shut out in 12 of them.
